概要

According to the curriculum policy, acquire specialized abilities that combine broad knowledge, advanced expertise, and complex knowledge in fields related to environment and sustainability of green science (CP 4). Environmental analysis is based on separation and measuring chemistry. In this class, the fundamental concepts of environmental analysis, including ion-exchange, separation, and concentration techniques (liquid extraction, ion-exchange separation, membrane separation, etc.) and chromatograpy (gas chromatography, liquid chromatograpy, ion-exchange chromatography, etc.) are reviewed.

目標

The objectives is to learn the fundamentals of environmental analysis based on separation and measuring chemistry. The goal of this class is to acquire the ability to apply theoretically and technically to the contents of the study (DP4) in the diploma policy: 1) Fundermental knowledge of separation chemistry. 2) Understanding the concepts of separation chemistry such as the fundamental concepts of environmental analysis, including ion-exchange, separation, and concentration techniques (liquid extraction, ion-exchange separation, membrane separation, etc.) and chromatograpy (gas chromatography, liquid chromatograpy, ion-exchange chromatography, etc.). 3) Learn the equilibrium analysis in separation chemistry.

授業外の学習

Read books and do exercises related to separation chemistry in advance and understand contents properly (required time: about 3 hours per one theme). Students are requested to search the published papers related in the topics of separation sciences and to report the summary using PPT (required time: about 8 hours for report preparation).

  4. Extraction separation (2): ion-exchange and chelate extraction.
  5. Extraction separation (4): Creig process.
  6. Chromatography (1): principle of chromatography.
  7. Chromatography (2): liquid chromatography.
  8. Chromatography (3): gas chromatography.
  9. Chromatography (4): ion-exchange chromatography.
  10. Chromatography (5): size-exclusion chromatography.
  11. Chromatography (6): Electrophoresis.
  12. Chromatography (7): Supercritical fluid chromatography.
  13. Overview of separation chemistry in analysis.
  14. Final exam.
