概要

This class is a continuation of Instrumental Analysis (SML6500E) where the fundamentals of analytical techniques are studied. The class focus on actual applications of analytical chemistry to field monitoring. The class content includes data collection from monitoring devices, theoretical background how these devices operate, background of atmospheric chemistry and data analysis. The theoretical contents are accompanied with in-class problem solving. From 2018 this class will also include field measurements. Since field measurements is central to understand and solve environmental issues, the course work is vital to relevant fields of science and technology. Through the study of high-level academic content about between harmony of life and the environment, the student is expected to master solutions that are connected to interdisciplinary fields. Curriculum Policy: To acquire the ability to contribute to the creation of substances ranging from atoms and molecules to polymers and living molecules through coursework in Departmental Core Courses on materials and life (lectures and laboratory classes in physics, chemistry and biology) (CP3). To study highly academic contents on substances and nanotechnology, harmonization between environment and life, and the creation of high-function materials (Departmental Specialized Subjects) and thus acquire problem-solving approaches to applied and emerging disciplines, interdisciplinary fields and human society (CP4).

目標

The objective for this lecture is to give the student a rational for selecting analytical techniques required to address specific problems. By developing a deep understanding of the basics of the field of the natural sciences, the student is expected to learn the ethos of the department of Science and Technology.

Standards for Establishment of Universities Article 21 Section 2. (https:// elaws.e-gov.go.jp/document?lawid=331M50000080028) In compliance with the mandatory government regulations above mentioned, the university requires students to allocate 190 minutes for independent study outside the classroom. At the end each class the teacher will provide reading and consultation materials to enhance the foundational knowledge essential for the course. It's important to note that these readings, excluding any explicit announcements, do not constitute assignments and will not be subject to grading.
