概要
Chemistry and biology are among of the most fundamental fields of study in the natural sciences. This laboratory course is designed for second-year students in the Green Science Course and provides them with the basic knowledge and concepts of chemistry and biology that are essential to the study of the system of the natural sciences. In the experimental subjects, students will learn how to handle chemical substances, observe biological systems and will be able to understand substances and phenomena in terms of chemical and biological concepts. The subjects of the experiments will be broadened from pure chemical reactions to include biological samples and life phenomena. By expanding the scope of the experiments from purely chemical reactions to include biological samples and life phenomena, the importance of a multifaceted viewpoint in the field of natural science is also experienced. The "microscopic concept (chemical reactions)" and the "macroscopic concept (biological phenomena)" in the field of student chemistry or student life science. The aim is to touch both sides of "microscopic concepts (chemical reactions)" and "macroscopic concepts (life phenomena)" in student chemistry and life science. Curriculum and Diploma Policies: Since the acquirement of fundamental abilities is central to solve problems of chemistry, the course work is vital to related fields of science and technology. This is in accordance curriculum policy (DP2 and DP3). Curriculum Policy: To acquire the fundamentals of the natural sciences in general, including physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, and mathematics through coursework in Faculty of Science and Technology Category II General Courses and simultaneously acquire skills in English comprehension and expression by becoming familiar with science and technology-related English communication (CP2). In adherence to heightened laboratory safety standards, starting from 2024 all registered students are obligated to adopt a proactive approach to laboratory safety. Students displaying inappropriate attitudes towards laboratory safety and regulations may be instructed to cease participation in a specific experiment or activity. Persistent non-compliance may lead to a directive to vacate the laboratory for the duration of the experiment or the entire term.
目標
The Diploma Policy includes: "General education, safety and ethics in science and technology (DP1)" "Basic education in the field of natural science. (DP2)" Based on the above topics the following three points are set as specific goals. (1) Introduction to interdisciplinary science, to acquire basic knowledge of the handling of chemical substances, samples of biology, and experimental apparatus. (2) To acquire the skills to conduct experiments in order to obtain results suitable for the purpose, taking safety into consideration. (3) Organize and verify the results of experiment and report them logically as reports.
授業外の学習
Standards for Establishment of Universities Article 21 Section 2. (https://elaws.e-gov.go.jp/document?lawid=331M50000080028) do not set a specific amount of work outside class for experiments. The students should, however, allocate enough study time for the following activities: 1. For each experiment the students are required to complete a preparation page that summarizes the activities of the day. 2. After each experiment a report has to be prepared following specific formats. 3. Students are also expected to read and understand the Chemistry Experiments Basic Instructions booklet.
所要時間: 1-2 hours
