MATERIALS AND LIFE SCIENCES (BIOLOGY)

概要

Together with the 'Basic Biology' course in the Spring semester, the aim of the course is to obtain fundamental knowledge of animal biology. On our planet, there are a wide variety of living organisms. In this course, students will study the diversity of animal kingdoms, and the physiology of animals. This lecture is one of the Departmental Core Courses and Compulsory courses, offered by Department of Materials and Life Sciences (Green Science), providing the basic knowledge of living organisms. Students will acquire the ability to contribute to the creation of functional biological molecules (Curriculum Policy #3).

目標

Students will master basic knowledge in the field of animal biology. By exploring similarities and differences among the various organisms, students can understand and explain the unity and diversity of animals. Furthermore, students will understand how the organs and cells maintain life cycles. Students obtain the ability to systematically understand the fundamentals of life (Diploma Policy #3).

授業外の学習

Before classes, students need to read some literatures and understand the concepts of topic in the class (about 70 min). After classes, students are expected to revise the class contents and explore further (about 2 hours). Students have to do literature search/reading and write a report on a related topic (details will be provided in class).
