概要

Electric power system includes generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption of electrical power. This course is designed to learn basic concepts of power system control for the stable and efficient use of electrical power. First, an overview of electric power system and its key components are presented. Then we discuss power system control for frequency, voltage, and synchronous stability. One report will be assigned. Besides, student presentation is planned to be held in 12th week. Each student should make a short presentation about a topic regarding electric power systems. Handouts are distributed in class. Moodle will be used to collect reports and presentation files. Information on the moodle course will be posted on Loyola class bulletin when reports are assigned. Among Curriculum Policy in Green Engineering, this course provides opportunities to acquire interdisciplinary abilities to apply and develop what has been learned in real society by using physics, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and electronics (CP4).

目標

To understand basic characteristics of synchronous generator, transmission and distribution power systems, concepts of control of power system frequency, voltage and synchronous stability, and basics of economy and reliability in power system. Among Diploma Policy in Green Engineering Program, the objective of this course is to foster the abilities to address science and technology issues (DP2) and to contribute to the acquisition of new physical values and the creation of functions (DP3) by studying electrical engineering.

授業外の学習

[Preview] (approx. 30 min per class) Read handout once and check technical terms or main topics briefly with books and/or materials provided by public or specialized institutions. [Review] (approx. 100 min per class) Review on the handout and your notebook, learn supplemental knowledges on books and materials, and prepare for final exam. [Assignments] (approx. 60 min per class) Make a survey on assigned theme and write report or prepare for presentation.
