概要
This course covers the fundamentals of Chemistry from a physico-chemical point of view. Properties at equilibrium and kinetics processes are studied in detail. The class will include a substantial amount of problem solving, assignments and a final examination. Curriculum and Diploma Policies: Since the acquirement of fundamental abilities is central to solve problems of chemistry, the course work is vital to related fields of science and technology. This is in accordance curriculum policy (DP2 and DP3). Curriculum Policy: To acquire the fundamentals of the natural sciences in general, including physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, and mathematics through coursework in Faculty of Science and Technology Category II General Courses and simultaneously acquire skills in English comprehension and expression by becoming familiar with science and technology-related English communication (CP2).
目標
The student should be able to understand basic concepts of chemistry and solve problems of basic and intermediate level. By developing a deep understanding of the basics of the field of the natural sciences, the student is expected to learn the ethos of the department of Science and Technology. Additionally, an important theme of the class is to introduce the concepts to mathematical modeling to understand the relations between the observable (macro) and the theoretical (micro) sides of substances.

Standards for Establishment of Universities Article 21 Section 2. (https://elaws.e-gov.go.jp/document?lawid=331M50000080028) In compliance with the mandatory government regulations above mentioned, the university requires students to allocate 190 minutes for independent study outside the classroom. At the end each class the teacher will provide reading and consultation materials to enhance the foundational knowledge essential for the course. However, It's important to note that these readings, excluding any explicit announcements, do not constitute assignments and will not be subject to grading.
