概要

According to the curriculum policy (CP2), to acquire skills in science and technology-related English comprehension and expression. In the first part of the course we will look at how to search for scientific/technology articles, and consider their structure. In the second part of the course, students will be asked to present (both a short 1 min presentation and a longer 8 minute presentation) in class the contents of a scientific paper of their choice (within guidelines). We will also look at the important topic of report writing in science and engineering. In the final part, we will work on editing drafts of scientific/technical reports, thus improving written English scientific communication skills, and learning-by-example important tips pertaining to concise and accurate writing. Group discussions on topics relevant to the environment will be involved throughout. Active learning: the course involves presentations, substantial in-class discussion and exercises. International exchange students etc. (交換留学生等): This course is available, please refer to the details distributed by the Center for Academic Affairs (including some suggestions on prior study/knowledge needed for this course).
