概要
This course focuses on cross-cultural management and diversity management at multinational corporations. Since this course's perspective is based on organizational psychology, students who are not interested in psychological issues should refrain from taking it. Theories in cross-cultural/diversity management are related to current issues of practical management. Students are expected to apply these theories to their theses, graduation projects, or future jobs. Students need to attend every class and participate in class discussions. They also need to write a short report, which will be evaluated as a Quiz, on a reading assignment every week. They will fail this course if they do not submit(present) any or all of the required mid-term exam, final presentation, and final report, even if they attend all the classes. Students will need to purchase case materials from Harvard Business School Publishing for approximately $30 on their own. Several guest speakers who work for multinational corporations or are professionals in cross-cultural management will be invited. This course is related to the Curriculum Policy 1, 2, and 3 of Master’s Program in Global Studies.
目標
The main objective of this course is to understand theories on cross-cultural management and diversity management. For the final assignment, students are required to comprehend an academic paper on managing multinational corporations and to provide theoretical explanations for it.
授業外の学習
After each class, students are expected to do the following study (200 minutes in total). 1) Write a short report on reading materials (evaluated as Quiz): 90 minutes 2) Prepare mid-term and final presentations: 60 minutes 3) Write a final report: 50 minutes
