概要

Students read cutting-edge academic papers focused on evolutionary developmental biology. By presenting the content of these papers and discussing them with other students, students learn about fish diversity and molecular mechanisms. The content of this course corresponds to Curriculum Policies 1 and 2 in the Biological Sciences discipline.

目標

The purpose of this course is to acquire advanced knowledge that will help generate ideas for new research areas focused on evolutionary developmental biology. Students will also develop the ability to present the main message of their research not only to fish biologists, but to others of various backgrounds. In addition, students will learn approaches for applying scientific knowledge and skills to improve human society. The objectives of this course correspond to Diploma Policies 1 and 2.

授業外の学習

Students must select which articles to read and which to publish through discussion with their academic advisor. Then, read in advance and fully understand the content including the background (3 hours). Students are also required to prepare materials to present the content of the article (6 hours).
