概要

This class explores the physical-chemical process operating in the atmosphere with an orientation in mathematical modeling. The class will be imparted in English and/or Japanese. Since the acquirement of fundamental abilities from a variety of fields is central to solve problems of atmospheric chemistry, the course work is vital to related fields of science and technology. This course focuses on chemical kinetics and atmospheric chemistry, this content reflects on Curriculum Policy 1: "The ability to multi-dimensionally identify how technology can impact human society and the global environment, acquired by studying a wide range of disciplines, including natural science disciplines beyond one’s disciplinary specialty or interdisciplinary fields covering the social sciences”

目標

The goal for this class is to study the inner machinery of planetary atmospheric systems in order to understand how changes in the atmospheric system can trigger climatic and/or planetary changes (DP3). This lecture uses textbooks and papers in English (DP1) , therefore improving scientific English is a requirement to be fulfilled by the students.

Standards for Establishment of Universities Article 21 Section 2. (https://elaws.e-gov.go.jp/document?lawid=331M50000080028) In compliance with the mandatory government regulations above mentioned, the university requires students to allocate 190 minutes for independent study outside the classroom. At the end each class the teacher will provide reading and consultation materials to enhance the foundational knowledge essential for the course. However, It's important to note that these readings, excluding any explicit announcements, do not constitute assignments and will not be subject to grading.
