LECTURE IN COMPARATIVE EDUCATION

概要

This English-medium seminar provides an overview of comparative education as a field of study. It introduces students to the history and nature of comparative education, noting variations in different parts of the world. It explores different actors/institutions and their purposes for doing comparative education. It also examines some key vehicles for publishing comparative education research, including journals, books and reports by international agencies. Diverse research themes and approaches will be critically examined using key literature selected from different world regions and historical periods. The course concludes with a note on the directions of the field. The course will be conducted as seminar discussions in which the students and the lecturer jointly examine the selected research literature. Students are expected to actively participate in class discussions.
