LECTURE IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

概要

In this English-medium course, students will learn about the basic idea of social science research and research methodologies as often applied to the field of education and international development. They will also learn about basic structures of a thesis/dissertation paper and prepare a research proposal. Students will first reflect upon their own values and worldviews, researcher identity, and significance and implications of their research through written assignments and classroom discussion. In the remaining duration of the course, students will engage in active reading of textbook chapters. Every week, a student will prepare a chapter summary and lead classroom discussion. Students will also work on an assignment to deepen their understanding of chapter contents and build skills to prepare a research proposal. At the end of the semester, students will present their research proposals in class.

目標

Students will understand major research paradigms and approaches, and develop skills to write a research proposal and academic research paper.

授業外の学習

Students are expected to read a textbook chapter and work on an assignment every week to prepare for class discussion.
