SPECIAL SEMINAR IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT 1

概要

The purpose of this course is to explore the realities of the education in developing countries, especially in sub-Sahara African and South East Asian countries. The first half of the course will consist of lectures from the lecturer. First, the course looks at some theories and definitions of educational development. Second, it reviews existing issues in different educational levels in various countries (e.g., pre-primary, primary, secondary, tertiary). Third, it explores by specific themes such as inclusive education, teacher policy, and privatization of education. The second half of the course will focus on inquiry learning for the students. Each group will select a specific country, issue, and educational stage to conduct and present based on the inquiry study.

目標

By the end of this course, the student will be able to: (1) understand basic theories of educational development; (2) understand the current educational situation in developing countries; (3) develop a research proposal on educational development.

授業外の学習

Students will be assigned to write a reflection paper of leading materials for particular weeks.
