概要

To read standard textbooks on biodiversity study, gain basic knowledge of them, and deepen your understanding of global environmental issues related to biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation. Participants in the seminar will determine the research topic of the seminar separately from the reading and proceed with the research. The research topic can be related to the theme that is supposed for the master's thesis or research paper. Introducing literature that are related to the research theme helps share knowledge and deepen understanding through discussion. Finally, all participants will present the results of the research conducted through the seminar and summarize them as a short report.

目標

Students in the first semester should learn methods for searching documents, acquiring and analyzing data, and preparing scientific papers (reports). Students in the second and subsequent semesters should deepen their interests and finalize searching previous studies and research methodologies necessary for a thesis study or research project. Furthermore, we aim to acquire expertise in environmental matters and acquire communication skills to explain the study results to others.

授業外の学習

To read the assigned part of text. To search scientific literature that are related to your research topic and prepare presentation materials. Individual instruction can be provided besides the regular class hours.

所要時間: The participants are expected to spend about 190 minutes for seminar-related activities outside the class time.
