This seminal is conducted in English. All materials and important information are shared with all members using the Moodle. Then the participants are required to register the Moodle course "Seminar B_2024" (Y. TANAKA).

概要

We read some chapters of standard textbooks of ecology and conservation biology, to deepen our understanding of global environmental issues related to loss of biodiversity and deterioration of ecosystem. Besides, attendees of this seminar will determine their own research topics, and advance their document researches. They will be assigned to present papers related to the research topic and share the knowledge with all participating students. Finally, they are required to summarize their research results as the final reports.

目標

Students in the first semester should acquire knowledge on methods of searching literature, methods of acquiring and analyzing data, and methods of writing scientific papers. Students in the 2nd or a later semester shall deepen their interests and decide research methods, which are required for fulfilling their master's theses and research reports. In addition to acquisition of expertise on the environment, we aim to acquire communication skills to explain our research results to others.

授業外の学習

To preview allocated parts of the textbook and to make up regimes used for discussion. To search documents related to the research theme, and to prepare presentation of research results. Individual guidance is available outside regular class hours.

所要時間: The participants are expected to spend about 190 minutes for seminar-related activities outside the class time.
