概要
In this course, we will look at the history, theories, concepts and research studies of psycholinguistics. A wide range of information will be covered on linguistics (e.g., semantics, syntax, morphology, pragmatics, phonetics) and other fields (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, computer science). Each student will choose a chapter(s) from Psychology of Language (Carroll, 2008) and give a presentation(s) in class, followed by a discussion with other participants. The course will provide everyone an opportunity to think through his or her own answers to the following important question of psycholinguistics: How do we acquire, understand, produce, and store language?
目標
The aim of this course is to understand the history, theories, concepts and research studies of psycholinguistics. Each attendee will also aim to answer the following important question of psycholinguistics: How do we acquire, understand, produce, and store language?
授業外の学習
a) Before each lesson (At least 1 hour) Read through the presenter's materials and be ready to participate in a discussion. b) After each lesson (At least 1 hour) b-1: Review the lesson materials b-2: Each student will select a book chapter(s) and/or an article(s) on psycholinguistics, and submit two summaries (at least three pages per summary) on each of the selected materials. If a book chapter is to be selected, it is recommended that the chapter is different from the one you have presented in class.

Each student will choose a chapter(s) from Carroll's Psychology of Language for his or her presentation(s). The instructor will explain the details of the book (e.g., where to find the textbook) in the first lesson. *If you'd like to purchase a hardcover book from Amazon or other online bookstores before the first lesson, please feel free to do so.
