INTERCULTURAL INTERACTION

概要

In this class, we will investigate the relationship between intercultural interaction and foreign /second language learning and teaching, and examine ways in which intercultural awareness can be raised in the classroom. Readings and class discussions will cover issues and problems relating to intercultural interaction, teachers and learners, course design and classroom practices. Students will be expected to collect and analyse a small sample of intercultural interaction data, preferably relating to their own research topics, or prepare a lesson plan and present their findings to the group. * EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHETHER YOU WILL TAKE THIS COURSE, PLEASE JOIN THE COURSE MOODLE PAGE (SEARCH UNDER MY NAME) BEFORE CLASSES START.

目標

At the end of this course students should have gained: 1) an overview of the theories and teaching methodologies relating to the teaching of culture/intercultural interaction 2) an awareness of the key issues and debates relating to this topic 3) practical skills and experience in conducting a small-scale research project 4) experience in academic writing and the presentation of research findings

1) Read and be prepared to discuss the assigned readings (one book chapter or journal article) each week 2) Research your own topic in depth 3) Collect data relating to your topic 4) Prepare a class presentation introducing your findings 5) Prepare a report based on your research findings including any feedback you received concerning your presentation
