概要
This class is composed of short lectures and student’s presentations and works. The students will have to read the materials, summarize the contents, and bring their questions/insights to discuss the relating and latest issues. In the first half, the students will read a lot of academic accumulation and international reports about education for sustainable development (ESD). The second half will bring them an opportunity to develop their own ESD model. ESD is about creating the change agency in the Anthropocene. The premise of ESD has great significance both as academic and a real-world issue. As education needs are expanding due to globalization, ESD is no longer something that can be done only within school education. In this course, we will deepen our understanding of ESD through discussions of international trends, domestic issues, and the well-being of society and ourselves. Students will develop and present their own ESD in workshops. The evaluation of this course contains the participatory approach.
目標
The students will be able to - understand what ESD is in Anthropocene, - analyze what is necessary in ESD, and - develop an ESD program based on their interest.
授業外の学習
The students must read materials, prepare for discussions, and analyze cases shown in class in order to develop their own ESD practice. Reading books and articles are required for class discussions (100 min). As you read the textbook, be sure to check the references and, if they are important to the chapter's content, also check their contents. For example, textbooks include sustainability education literature and reports from international organizations. Refer to the OPAC of the university library and the website of each international organization, download the files to your own computer, and read through them after the class discussions (90 min).
