概要

The course aims to provide pragmatic knowledge on sustainable development, particularly at the UN and to develop the related skills and know-how useful for a career at the UN and other international organizations. While giving focus on the principal Goal-1 among the 17 SDGs on "Leaving No One Behind" (poverty eradication), the lessons will explore what sustainable development means to the so-called vulnerable countries such as the least developed countries (LDCs), Africa and small island developing States (SIDS). In that context, inter-linkages among SDGs in particular SDG-1, SDG-13 (Climate Action) and selective other SDGs such as Gender and Education, will be explored. In addressing these issues, students are expected to conduct online research and develop abilities to extract key information and analyze reference materials from UN agencies, and from recorded statements and meetings. The students will develop skills to effectively draft, conceptualize, debate or present their analysis and findings.
