50% Semester group research project 10% 2 Progress checks - 5 points each 20% Midterm - Timely completion of group presentation and group paper 30% Final - Timely completion of final group presentation and individual paper • A semester long group project will be done in pairs – groups will be formed in class 1 and confirmed in class 2

概要
PROJECT MANAGEMENT 1 will focus on all the basic skills and knowledge required to develop and manage projects. This course will mainly focus on the key elements of project preparation including 1) Community assessment and stakeholder participation 2) problem assessment including cause/effect and impact analysis 3) Objectives analysis & 4) selecting a project. The second half of the course will focus on project implementation and selecting activities and tactics to achieve goals within a set timeline. Depending on students experience and knowledge, course contents will also be devoted to methods for monitoring and evaluation and project budget development. Midterm and final evaluation will be based on the plans and presentations students develop in groups throughout the semester. toThe course will be run in workshop format. Weekly reading assignments will include excerpts and project plans from a variety of project cycle management tools kits developed by different international development agencies.

Aim of the course: each student will gain/learn 1. A basic understanding of project management cycle 2. Skills and knowledge needed to develop and manage projects based on evidence 3. An understanding of stakeholder analysis and community participation. 4. How to set goals that will contribute to solving a problem 5. The to ability develop a suitable and productive project plan 6. Improved presentation skills 7. The confidence and knowledge to be more effective in their studies.

Expected work outside of class There will be three types of weekly assignments 1) Watching weekly lecture before class, preparing notes and questions Because you will have 1 hour of prerecorded lecture - we will reduce the class time by 1 hour. The original class time of 9:00-10:40 and 10:55-12:35 will be changed to 9:30-12:00. 2) Readings about project management stages or examples of project plans 3) Research on the topic of their choosing for the development of a project Minimum required outside class work: At least 3 hours per week ONLINE COURSE Pre-recorded lectures will be prepared prior to each class Zoom details will be posted on Moodle The Moodle page with more details to be made available in April 2024 Course language: English
所要時間: At least 190 minutes per period, 50% (80-100 minutes) for reading and about 50% (80-90 minutes) for writing or plan preparation
