詳細情報
概要
This course explores the evolution of International Organizations (IOs) and their contemporary significance. It provides a foundational understanding of key entities such as the United Nations (UN), OECD, regional organizations, and affiliated institutions. Students are expected to engage with relevant course materials and participate in active discussions led by the instructor on the challenges facing IOs. To facilitate a comprehensive understanding of global governance issues, this course will introduce fundamental International Relations (IR) theories, including Realism, Liberalism, and Constructivism, during the initial 1-2 weeks. In the final 2-3 weeks, students will be organized into groups based on their research topics and will deliver concise (10-15 min.) oral presentations. These presentations will focus on conducting multi-perspective analyses of case studies involving international organizations and their governance structures.
目標
This course explores the theoretical backgrounds of international organizations, and discusses empirical issues in international society. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the features of major IOs, their historical background, and organizational development, and the challenges of advancing multilateralism.
