概要
These courses prepare students to be able to understand short lectures/texts based on a specific subject and actively present their ideas with originality. Students will be able to participate in lecture processing skills and conduct tasks such as role-plays, discussions, demonstrations or presentations based on rich authentic input on topics. These courses are designed for students to exercise critical thinking skills to learn about subject content and build language and academic skills around the topics. この科目群では,トピックについての短いレクチャー/文章を理解し,学生が独創性を持って考えを活発に伝えることを学ぶ。ロールプレイ,ディスカッション,デモンストレーション,プレゼンテーションなどの活動に積極的に参加することにより,本質的な内容について学び,英語を実践的に活用できるように学習していきます。これらのコースは,学生がクリティカルシンキングスキルを用い,主題の内容について学び,そのトピックに関する言語とアカデミックスキルを構築できるように設計されています。 On this course, you will learn to read academic texts effectively in the area of English for Academic Purposes. You will practice using critical thinking skills and you will read for the purpose of understanding academic content in order to be able to participate in a discussion. You will be able to learn how to read different types of texts such as journal articles, essays, and news articles. This is an effective course to take especially if you are preparing to take English tests to measure your proficiency in English, or if you are planning to study abroad or take subject courses taught in English. You can develop your reading ability quite considerably if you put much effort into the course work offered. このコースでは英語のスキルをリーディングに特化して学び,そこで学んだ内容を用いてディスカッションを行います。英語による大学の授業やアカデミックな話題が読み取れるようになるだけでなく,各種検定試験の対策や留学に必要とされるリーディングの力を伸ばします。 In class, you will be asked to read through the reading material in advance. During class, students will give presentations based on the material and engage in group discussions and debates. 授業の前にはあらかじめテキストのリーディング教材に目を通し,設問に回答してきてもらいます。授業中にはその内容をもとに担当者にプレゼンを行っていただくほか,グループディスカッションやディベートを行います。
目標
Students are expected to: 1) improve their reading and discussion skills in English. 2) obtain basic academic knowledge to discuss various disciplines.
授業外の学習
Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 Every week, students are expected to read the English passages in the textbook and answer the accompanying questions beforehand to prepare for the class. This activity will typically take approximately 100 minutes. Additionally, please take around 90 minutes to independently review the material covered in the lesson.
