概要

These courses prepare students to be able to understand short lectures/texts based on a specific subject and actively present their ideas with originality. Students will be able to participate in lecture processing skills and conduct tasks such as role-plays, discussions, demonstrations or presentations based on rich authentic input on topics. These courses are designed for students to exercise critical thinking skills to learn about subject content and build language and academic skills around the topics. この科目群では,トピックについての短いレクチャー/文章を理解し,学生が独創性を持って考えを活発に伝えることを学ぶ。ロールプレイ,ディスカッション,デモンストレーション,プレゼンテーションなどの活動に積極的に参加することにより,本質的な内容について学び,英語を実践的に活用できるように学習していきます。これらのコースは,学生がクリティカルシンキングスキルを用い,主題の内容について学び,そのトピックに関する言語とアカデミックスキルを構築できるように設計されています。 On this course, you will learn to listen effectively to spoken language in the area of English for Academic Purposes. You will practice critical thinking skills, and you will be able to use the content and language you learnt through the listening in order to conduct a discussion. You will be able to learn how to listen to speakers with different accents talking about academic topics or having a conversation in a university environment. This is an effective course to take especially if you are preparing to take English tests to measure your proficiency in English, or if you are planning to study abroad or take subject courses taught in English. You can develop your listening ability quite considerably if you put much effort into the course work offered. このコースでは英語のスキルをリスニングに特化して学び,そこで学んだ内容を用いてディスカッションを行います。英語による大学の授業やアカデミックな話題が聞き取れるようになるだけでなく,各種検定試験の対策や留学に必要とされるリスニングの力を伸ばします。 This course is designed to develop your listening and discussion skills. You will watch some interviews from “NHK Direct Talk” and have discussions so that you can enhance your understanding of the topics and develop your critical thinking skills. Through these practices, you are expected to improve your listening abilities and to communicate your ideas effectively in intercultural academic settings.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 【Preparation】(Time required: approx. 100 minutes for each class) ・Watch the interviews beforehand and answer the questions in the textbook. ・Prepare your own ideas and questions for class discussions. 【Review】(Time required: approx. 90 minutes for each class) ・Read the lecture notes and reflect on what you learned in class. ・Prepare for quizzes and final exam. ・Work on discussion worksheets.
