CRITICAL ACADEMIC LISTENING AND DISCUSSION

概要

These courses prepare you to be able to conduct specific tasks related to work. You will be able to actively participate in developing your practical English skills through tasks such as role-plays, discussions, demonstrations or presentations. この科目群では,日常業務や生活場面で使用される英語を学びます。ロールプレイ,ディスカッション,デモンストレーション,プレゼンテーションなどの活動に積極的に参加することにより,英語を実践的に活用できるよう学習していきます。 On this course, you will learn to listen effectively to spoken language in the area of English for Academic Purposes. You will be able to use the content and language you learnt through the listening in order to conduct a discussion. You will be able to learn how to listen to speakers with different accents talking about academic topics or having a conversation in a university environment. This is an effective course to take especially if you are preparing to take English tests to measure your proficiency in English, or if you are planning to study abroad or take subject courses taught in English. You can develop your listening ability quite considerably if you put much effort into the course work offered. このコースでは英語のスキルをリスニングに特化して学び,そこで学んだ内容を用いてディスカッションを行います。英語による大学の授業やアカデミックな話題が聞き取れるようになるだけでなく,各種検定試験の対策や留学に必要とされるリスニングの力を伸ばします。 Students are going to develop language skills (focusing on listening and speaking skills) , critical thinking, and learning strategies required for academic success. There will be explicit instruction of note-taking, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation and academic skills. With slide shows of lectures and presentations, students are going to develop listening and presentation skills. As a thinking tool, they are going to learn to use graphic organizers.
