概要

These courses prepare you to use English in specialist professions. You will be able to learn the specific language used to carry out the duties of that particular profession. You will also develop your skills in order to conduct the duties in the respective professions. この科目群では,専門的な職業分野で使用される英語を学び,仕事を円滑に行うための英語スキルを身につけていきます。 On this introductory course, you will learn the basic skills and knowledge relevant to the field of journalism. You will focus on developing your knowledge about the professions related to it. You will also learn the language you need to engage in this area of work through different real life situations, and writing tasks. この入門コースでは,ジャーナリズムにおいて必要とされる基本スキルと知識を身につけます。まず,この職業について知識を習得します。また,さまざまな現実の状況を想定し,書くという作業を通じて,この分野で活躍するために必要な専門用語も学びます。 You will be exposed to English news articles on various current topics, including politics, economy, global environment, technology and so forth, and learn about the characteristics of the English used in the mass media. 政治,経済,地球環境,テクノロジー,スポーツ等,様々な時事的トピックに関する英文新聞記事に触れ,マスメディアで用いられる英語の特徴について学ぶ。

目標

You will be accustomed to the style of English and the vocabulary used in news articles, and become more proficient in understanding them. 新聞記事で用いられる英語の文体や語彙に慣れ,英文記事をよりよく理解できるようになる。 You will expand your vocabulary concerning a broad range of current issues. 様々な時事問題に関する語彙を拡充する。

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 You are expected to read an article assigned as homework before class and look up words and expressions that are unfamiliar so that you can explain or answer questions about the content of the article. (60 minutes) 課題として出される記事を前もって読み,知らない単語や表現を調べ,記事の内容に関して説明し,質問に答えられるようにしておく。(60分) You must review the contents of the articles and the words/expressions used, and prepare for the final exam. (60 minutes) 記事の内容および単語・表現を復習し,期末試験に備える。(60分) You must also prepare for the vocabulary quiz that will be given after each chapter. (30 minutes) チャプターごとに行われる語彙テストに向けて準備を行う。(30分)
