To write something coherent and convincing, you need to go through a process of researching, planning, drafting, revising and editing. It is integral to deal with your own writing seriously and meticulously, and rewrite it over and over again until it attains "perfection." This course offers you an opportunity to experience the writing process step by step by writing one opinion essay and one research paper under one broad topic, "migration." Along with the textbook, you will read and watch some materials to deepen the understanding of the topic. On the way, you will share your thoughts with other students and have tutorial sessions to see your own writings from different angles.

目標

You will learn 1) the process of prewriting: how to organize and narrow down what you want to write, how to find verified and credible sources for research, how to shape your ideas logically into an essay structure 2) the process of writing: how to write sophisticated sentences, how to make proper word choices, how to explain your main idea/thesis statement with suitable examples, and how to make citations and quotations according to APA format 3) the process of polishing: how to read your own writing critically, how to write a reference list.

授業外の学習
