概要

These courses prepare students to be able to understand short lectures/texts based on a specific subject and actively present their ideas with originality. Students will be able to participate in lecture processing skills and conduct tasks such as role-plays, discussions, demonstrations or presentations based on rich authentic input on topics. These courses are designed for students to exercise critical thinking skills to learn about subject content and build language and academic skills around the topics. この科目群では,トピックについての短いレクチャー/文章を理解し,学生が独創性を持って考えを活発に伝えることを学ぶ。ロールプレイ,ディスカッション,デモンストレーション,プレゼンテーションなどの活動に積極的に参加することにより,本質的な内容について学び,英語を実践的に活用できるように学習していきます。これらのコースは,学生がクリティカルシンキングスキルを用い,主題の内容について学び,そのトピックに関する言語とアカデミックスキルを構築できるように設計されています。 This course is designed to create an opportunity to focus on speaking, paying particular attention to meaning, form, pronunciation and fluency. There will be plenty of opportunity to practice critical thinking skills and speaking in English in relation to different topics, enabling chances to develop your vocabulary to aid effective communication. このコースではスピーキングのスキルに特化し,意味や文型,発音を意識しながら流暢に話せる力を伸ばします。様々なトピックについてのスピーキング練習を行い,語彙力を向上させることで円滑なコミュニケーションが取れるようになります。 The United Nations set Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. The SDGs are an urgent call for action that every individual, organization, and country must be fully committed to further step up their efforts to realize our planet as a better place to live. In this course, students view public speeches by various active world citizens who share their own stories. Students can learn critical thinking skills from these speakers to understand the causes and effects of problems, plan investigations to solve them, and create solutions. Eventually, students will recognize that ordinary citizens like us can also contribute to taking actions to make the world a better place. 国連がSDGs(持続可能な開発目標)を設定したのは,2015年のことです。SDGsはあらゆる個人,組織,国家が地球を持続可能な住みやすい場所にするためにさらなる取り組みをすべき差し迫った声明です。 この授業では,様々な活動に携わる世界市民がそれぞれの体す験を語るスピーチを視聴します。受講生はこれらの語り手のスピーチから,それぞれのクリティカル・シンキングの技術,つまり問題の原因や結果を理解し,問題解決を目指す調査や活動に取り組み,解決策を見つけ出すことなどを学ぶことができるでしょう。最終的には,私たちのような一般市民でもよりよい世界をつくるために行動を起こすことができることに気がつくことになるでしょう。

目標

By the end of this course, students will 1 develop understanding of public speaking 2 select important and relevant information on topics 3 present informative and persuasive speeches 4 increase their confidence as public speakers 5 acquire critical thinking skills through class activities and assignments

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 Students are expected to • finish all homework before class (70 minutes) • prepare for submitting all assignments on time (120 minutes)
