CRITICAL THINKING AND SPEAKING FOUNDATIONS

概要

These courses prepare students to be able to understand short lectures/texts based on a specific subject and actively present their ideas with originality. Students will be able to participate in lecture processing skills and conduct tasks such as role-plays, discussions, demonstrations or presentations based on rich authentic input on topics. These courses are designed for students to exercise critical thinking skills to learn about subject content and build language and academic skills around the topics. この科目群では,トピックについての短いレクチャー/文章を理解し,学生が独創性を持って考えを活発に伝えることを学ぶ。ロールプレイ,ディスカッション,デモンストレーション,プレゼンテーションなどの活動に積極的に参加することにより,本質的な内容について学び,英語を実践的に活用できるように学習していきます。これらのコースは,学生がクリティカルシンキングスキルを用い,主題の内容について学び,そのトピックに関する言語とアカデミックスキルを構築できるように設計されています。 This course is designed to create an opportunity to focus on speaking, paying particular attention to meaning, form, pronunciation and fluency. There will be plenty of opportunity to practice critical thinking skills and speaking in English in relation to different topics, enabling chances to develop your vocabulary to aid effective communication. このコースではスピーキングのスキルに特化し,意味や文型,発音を意識しながら流暢に話せる力を伸ばします。様々なトピックについてのスピーキング練習を行い,語彙力を向上させることで円滑なコミュニケーションが取れるようになります。 This course will focus on various social issues in Japan and abroad. For each topic, we will learn vocabulary and useful expressions, listen to a short talk, read a comic strip and brainstorm ideas. We will also practice articulating our opinions through writing and group discussion. Throughout the course, we will deepen our knowledge of the relevant issues and develop critical thinking. このコースでは日本や海外の様々な社会問題に焦点をあてます。それぞれのトピックで,語彙や表現を学び,短いトークを聞き,漫画を読み,考えを出し合います。またライティングやディスカッションを通して,意見を明確にする練習を重ねていきます。コースを通して,関連のある問題に対する知識を深め,批判的思考力を養います。

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 You will be expected to: 1) review vocabulary and expressions (30 minutes) 2) do listening practice (40 minutes) 3) complete writing assignments (60 minutes) 4) prepare for group discussion (60 minutes)
