概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication 1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. You will develop your understanding of storytelling, including story structure as it applies to films. You will also learn about how real life events, such as university experience and various social issues, can also be viewed and analyzed as stories.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. You will conduct a research project in relation to the content of the course. You will complete a series of assignments based on the academic topic of storytelling. You will listen to short lectures and make notes about the main points. You will read texts and take part in discussions about the content. You will write an academic essay with a focus on paragraph structure and showing your understanding of the topic. You will give academic presentations that are well prepared, structured, and delivered, and that show your understanding of the topic.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. Homework assignments include pre-task activities, completion of tasks, and preparation for upcoming lessons.
