概要
On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication 1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. This course delves into the world of theatre practice and its connection to storytelling, examining how narrative structures, character development, and thematic exploration shape theatrical experiences. Through a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach, students will engage with theoretical concepts, practical exercises, and critical analyses while enhancing their academic communication skills. Emphasis will be placed on active participation, collaborative learning, and the development of presentation skills.
目標
On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. You will conduct a research project in relation to the content of the course. To introduce students to the fundamentals of theatre practice and storytelling techniques. To explore how narrative elements are utilized in theatrical productions to convey meaning and evoke emotions. To analyze and critically evaluate theatrical texts and performances through the lens of storytelling. To develop students' academic communication skills, including research, presentation, and argumentation. To foster collaborative learning through group discussions, presentations, and peer feedback. To culminate the course with a major project that integrates theoretical understanding with practical application.
授業外の学習
Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. Reviewing each lesson and making notes is essential and should take at least 30mins. Preparing for the next class by reading any assigned text work or watching performance productions will take between 60-90 minutes. Finally, you may have to conduct research to prepare for a discussion or presentation task which will also take between 30-60 minutes.
