ACADEMIC COMMUNICATION 2 (ADVANCED II)*

概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication 1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. On this course, you will study modern topics such as communication studies, sociology, business, psychology, economics, technology, and others. You will be researching and having discussions about the topics. You are expected to participate and share your personal opinions in class.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. You will conduct a research project in relation to the content of the course. You will discuss and debate about contemporary topics. You will research and prepare individual and group presentations based on the topics. Ending with an understanding of the topic discussed in class and your everyday life.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. Examples of homework include: -Listening to lectures and answering questions -Study vocabulary -Online quizzes -Prepare for presentations and class discussions. This includes research at the library. -Other writings (journals, short essays, summaries)
