概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication 1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. On this course, we will spend time thinking about how we imagine alternative or future societies, utopias and dystopias. By the end of the course, you will have thought, written and presented about utopias and dystopias in human imagination, and about your own vision for better societies.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. You will conduct a research project in relation to the content of the course. • Build your knowledge about utopia/dystopia and develop your own ideas on how societies can be made better. • Improve your ability to discuss and write about books and films in English, including a novel you read in class. • Further develop the academic writing, critical thinking and discussion skills you learned in AC1 in the first semester. • Learn to make a logically organized presentation based on research and use different academic presentation techniques to engage an audience.
