ACADEMIC COMMUNICATION 2 (ADVANCED I)*

概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication 1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. You will learn a wide range of topics related to challenges that society faces. Through collaborative work with your classmates, you will create a product or service to accommodate marginalized people. You will also lead class discussions on a chosen topic by presenting what you learned through reading relevant materials and group discussions. You will also have ample opportunities for learning different perspectives on diverse topics related to social issues.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. You will be able to find appropriate materials for academic topics and give presentations about the topics. Also, you will be able to lead group discussions to help classmates to think about various topics from multiple perspectives. Finally, you will be able to write an argumentative essay on a controversial topic in which you demonstrate your ability to logically argue for your position with sufficient evidence.

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons.
