概要
On this course you will learn the English you need to study effectively in an international academic environment. The course is offered at Upper Intermediate level. The language of instruction is English. You will learn how to study effectively using all four skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will produce your own written and oral work in connection with the topics dealt with in class. You will gain deeper understanding of the SDGs not only through studying a textbook but also by engaging in some personal research and projects. You are expected to relate what you learn in the classroom to the actual social activities in the world.
目標
On this course, you will learn how to write a summary, based on a text related to an academic topic dealt with on the course. You will listen to and be able to comprehend a 10-minute intermediate level lecture and make notes about the main points. You will be guided to skim and scan a text of over 500 words in order to understand the gist of the content and report it verbally. You will learn how to write reading reports of around 300-400 words using the correct academic conventions and focus on paragraph structures. You will also learn how to edit your reports by making use of your dictionaries, grammar books and other online resources. You will gain deeper understanding of the sustainable development goals through project-based learning.
授業外の学習
Homework is given regularly to help you review the class contents, and learn how to find materials for your own study. You need to spend the same amount of time as the lesson itself for self-study (preview and review). You will be asked to engage in the personal projects (for two mini-presentations and one final presentation) and the research on cooperate activities in the real world (Real Practice) in addition to regular reading and critical thinking tasks.
