概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. The overall topic of the course is "Life and Technology." You will listen to academic lectures and students discussions on the themes of the lecture related to psychology, public health, biology, robot technology, game technology, information technology, etc. You will learn vocabularies important to the lecture content, improve listening comprehension skills and learn techniques to take effective notes. You will also conduct a research on the related topics and make both individual and group presentations.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. By the end of the course, you can -increase your vocabularies -improve your listening comprehension skills -take better notes and use the information from the lecture to understand the important points. -use the information from the lecture in both writing and oral presentation -think critically about various topics -participate in the discussion on the related topics

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. You will be required to study new vocabularies and prepare your answers to warm up questions. You will also need to try review questions using LMS (Learning Management System) of Pearson, the publisher of the textbook. In addition, you will have to do research and prepare for a presentation.
