概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. You will work on the issue "Demographic and Technological Change" to identify problems and propose possible solutions for Japan and beyond.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen, read, and discuss about issues relating to demographics and technological change and how developing trends in each area present both problems and opportunities within Japan and beyond. Specific objectives include but are not limited to: - Identify issues raised in a news report and formulate opinions based on the content. - Present data and describe charts and trends effectively as part of a presentation. - Further develop academic writing skills and critical reading strategies to evaluate problems and solutions. - Participate in discussion activities to share research and make proposals.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. Homework will include, but not be limited to, research on the issues outlined and preparation and practice for in-class presentations.
