概要
On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. On this course, you will discuss various challenges for sustainable development focusing on global food culture and issues. By reading articles and sharing your knowledge and ideas with your classmates, you will gain some new knowledge about today’s global issues, discuss them making connections to your life experience, and further develop your language, study and critical thinking skills. You will also conduct research on the topics brought up in class and give presentations.
目標
On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. During the course, you will be able to 1) build your knowledge about sustainable development and global food culture and issues, 2) further develop your English language and critical thinking skills, 3) conduct research and give simple yet effective academic presentations in English.
授業外の学習
Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. You will be expected to 1) review vocabulary and prepare for quizzes, 2) read articles/watch video clips, take notes and prepare for in-class discussions, 3) complete writing assignments, 4) do weekly listening practice, 5) conduct research and prepare for presentations.
