概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. On this course, you will be expected to learn about the society today and our mind to understand further the world you live in, yourselves, and others around you. Throughout this course, you will work on listening, speaking, reading, and writing tasks on various topics, and will be required to take mini-quizzes to demonstrate comprehension. You will also be given chances to research further on topics brought up in class, write an essay, and make presentations. You will be expected to participate actively in each task and classroom activity.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to: ・demonstrate a better understanding about the society today and our mind ・think critically about relevant issues ・use English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills effectively in individual and collaborative learning activities ・demonstrate improvement in academic skills that you learned in AC1 and use them effectively

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. 【Preparation and Review】(Time required: approximately 45 minutes for each class) ・Review what you learned in previous classes ・Work on every assignment ・ Engage in an essay writing project and prepare for presentations ・Increase your vocabulary by making good use of dictionaries
