概要
On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. このコースではAcademic Communication1 で学んだ学習スキルを使ってアカデミックな科目,或はトピックについて学びます。トピックについての知識と言葉とクリティカル・シンキングスキルをさらに伸ばしていきます。 This course will focus on the theme of “Reading World Stories in English”. We will read 2 short stories, 1 longer story, and 1 graphic novel (comic book). The stories are from the UK, the USA, India, and Ivory Coast (West Africa). We will write and talk about how people’s lives are influenced by the times and places they live in, including family and social expectations. We will also learn the basic vocabulary and ideas of English stories.
目標
On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. このコースではAC1で学んだスキルを使って,授業で扱うトピックについて話を聞き,記事などを読みます。こうして学習したことについて効果的に話し,またエッセイにまとめます。また扱われるトピックについて学術的に,かつ批判的に考える技術も学びます。 Through this course, you will be able to write and speak about stories using the correct verb tense and terms. You will read, speak, and write about the lives of characters in different countries through contexts such as gender roles, family, and marriage. You will be able to write a short essay about stories we study, and you will complete two short presentations (one with Power-Point) about stories studied in class.
授業外の学習
Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 - You will be required to read four stories, and you will probably need to read each more than once. - You may want to review for 2 small quizzes. - You will be required to prepare two presentations (one using PowerPoint).
