概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. このコースではAcademic Communication1 で学んだ学習スキルを使ってアカデミックな科目,或はトピックについて学びます。トピックについての知識と言葉とクリティカル・シンキングスキルをさらに伸ばしていきます。 This course will focus on various global issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals. For each topic, we will review vocabulary, listen to a short dialogue, and read articles. We will also practice articulating our opinions on the topics through writing and group discussion. Throughout the course, we will deepen our knowledge of the relevant issues and develop critical views on them.

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. このコースではAC1で学んだスキルを使って,授業で扱うトピックについて話を聞き,記事などを読みます。こうして学習したことについて効果的に話し,またエッセイにまとめます。また扱われるトピックについて学術的に,かつ批判的に考える技術も学びます。 1. You will further practice your English skills and critical thinking skills. 2. You will deepen your knowledge of the global issues discussed in class. 3. You will formulate your opinions and develop critical views on the relevant issues presented in class. 4. You will conduct research and give academic presentations in English.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 You will be expected to (1) review vocabulary (2) read articles (3) do listening practice (4) complete writing assignments (5) prepare for group discussion Time required: approximately 45 minutes for each class.
