概要

On this course, you will learn the English you need to study effectively in an international academic environment. The course is offered at Elementary level. The language of instruction is English. You will learn how to study effectively using all four skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will produce your own written and oral work in connection with the topics dealt with in class. このコースでは,国際的でアカデミックな環境で,効果的に学習するための英語を学びます。授業は初級レベルで行われ,クラス内での使用言語は英語です。リスニング,スピーキング,リーディング,ライティングの4技能を使い,効果的に学習することを学びます。授業で扱ったトピックをもとに話し,エッセイを書きます。

目標

On this course, you will learn how to write a short summary, based on data on a topic related to the academic environment. You can listen to a 10 minute lecture delivered in simple English and make notes about the main points. You will be guided to read graded readers at Elementary level to understand the gist and report the contents verbally. You will learn how to write reading reports of 200 words, using correct paragraph structures and cohesive devices. You will also learn how to edit your reports focussing on accuracy by making use of your dictionaries, grammar books and other online resources. You will also learn how to take part in a 10 minute academic presentation and present an argument logically using appropriate language.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 Homework is given regularly to help you review the class contents, and learn how to find materials for your own study . It is issued periodically to set personal achievement goals. At least 45 minutes for each lesson, each week should be allowed for homework. You will usually be expected to do things like; prepare for the next class by reading or formulating ideas to share with classmates, reflect on the previous class, edit and proofread writing, keep a journal for vocabulary and participate in discussions on Moodle.
