概要

In this course, students will build their confidence in speaking in front of others and develop key presentation skills. Students will begin to develop their skills by making presentations on their own personal and academic interests. As the semester progresses, students will develop more advanced academic presentation skills by giving poster presentations, and by giving presentations at a mock academic conference on the theme of Japanese society, for which students can utilize their research from Academic Writing 1. As well as input from the teacher there will be extensive practice of presentation skills and active observation of other students’ presentations. Students can present about ACADEMIC WRITING 1 content in this course.

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. Outside classroom tasks will include but not limited to: 1) keeping a weekly journal via MOODLE on reaction to class activities; 2) sourcing and viewing presentations for critique during group discussions and; 3) cooperating and collaborating with classmates or a designated partner in sourcing and critiquing presentations
