ACADEMIC COMMUNICATION 2 (INTRODUCTORY)*

概要

On this course, you will apply the study skills you developed in Academic Communication1 to study an academic subject or topic. You will be able to deepen your understanding about a topic and further develop your knowledge, language and critical thinking skills. このコースではAcademic Communication1 で学んだ学習スキルを使ってアカデミックな科目,或はトピックについて学びます。トピックについての知識と言葉とクリティカル・シンキングスキルをさらに伸ばしていきます。 In this course, you will learn about effective presentation techniques, various social issues, and English as a lingua franca, all while using English. You will not only learn English but also acquire this new knowledge through the use of English. このコースでは,よりよいプレゼンテーションの仕方,さまざまな社会問題,国際語としての英語について英語を使いながら学びます。英語だけでなく,これらの新しい知識を英語を使いながら身につけます。

目標

On this course, you will use the skills you learned in AC1 to listen and read about a particular topic which will be covered in class. You will also be able to talk and write effectively in English about what you have learned. You will be guided to think academically about the topic with a focus on critical thinking. このコースではAC1で学んだスキルを使って,授業で扱うトピックについて話を聞き,記事などを読みます。こうして学習したことについて効果的に話し,またエッセイにまとめます。また扱われるトピックについて学術的に,かつ批判的に考える技術も学びます。 This course aims to achieve the following objectives: (1) Understanding academic English (2) Expressing one's own thoughts in English (3) Presenting with confidence (4) Understanding the subjects covered in class and applying them to one's own university life. このコースでは次の項目を目標とします。 ①学術英語を理解する ②自分の考えを英語で表現する ③自信をもってプレゼンテーションをする ④授業で扱う科目内容を理解し,自身の大学生活に活かせるようにする

授業外の学習

Based on the content of the syllabus and textbook materials, students will be asked to preview/review the lessons. Homework in connection to the lessons will be given every week. シラバスの内容や教科書資料をもとに,授業の予習・復習をしていただきます。 レッスンに関連した宿題が毎週出されます。 Your homework may include preparing your opinions on the readings (10 min.) and summarizing their content for discussion in class (15 min.). 授業外学習には,読んだ内容ついての意見を準備することや(10分),その内容をクラスで議論するために要約すること(15分)が含まれます。
