SPECIALIZED SEMINAR IV(AQUILA)

概要

INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAW This course aims to familiarize students with the basic principles, key instruments, and current issues in international environmental law. The seminar will begin with lectures introducing the history and fundamental principles of this legal field. The course will then examine selected topic and regimes of international environmental law through in-class presentations by students and discussions. Topics include multilateral environmental agreements on climate change, marine environment protection, biodiversity conservation, waste and hazardous substances management, and endangered species protection. Students will take an active role in the learning process. Each student is expected to give one in-class presentation and actively engage in debates.

目標

1. You will gain knowledge of the general principles and selected topic areas of international environmental law. 2. You will understand the challenges of establishing and implementing international rules for environmental protection. 3. You will be able to constructively participate in debates and effectively communicate your research findings through presentations.

授業外の学習

Students are expected to complete weekly reading assignments and prepare questions and comments in advance of each class. Each student will give one in-class presentation on a selected topic of international environmental law (starting from week 4).

所要時間: 200 minutes per class (weekly reading assignments, preparation of one presentation per student per semester)
