概要
This lecture introduces basic concepts, theories and practices of Environmental Sociology to provide students with basic frame of reference. It discusses the relationship between society and envrionment focusing on machizukuris based on Satoyama history, activism against the compressed modernization and developmentalism in post-war Japan, and contemporary energy issue after the 3/11 accident, so on. Completing this course, students will able to apply the concepts, theories and practices for their further research.
目標
1. Students will develop a sociological perspective on how human societies, animals and insects, environment and climate are interconnected. 2. Students will learn ways of identifying and analyzing social and environmental problems, grounded in the social sciences.

Students are expected to do one reading per week, which will be distributed via Moodle. Depending on the week, a suggested reading may be available.
