概要
In this class, we will overview the living conditions of "immigrants" in Japan and explore how formal and informal institutions in Japan influence their living conditions. It covers the topic of labor market conditions, international marriages, social relations with local citizens, their ex/inclusion from/into social security, discrimination, and integration of the second generations, etc. The students are expected to actively participate in discussions during the class.
目標
By the end of the class, the students will 1) Be able to explain the living conditions of immigrants in Japan based on various data. 2) Acquire a sociological perspective to investigate social phenomena 3) Develop their thoughts on the relationship between formal/informal institutions and the living conditions of immigrants

The students are expected to read assigned materials (articles, book chapters, etc.) before each class and review what they learn after each class.
