概要

In this class we will study the roots of sociology by learning about its history as a discpline and familiarize ourselves with its key classical theorists and their major approaches.

目標

Students will study classical theories of sociology and will understand the historical context from which these theories were derived. Such an understanding of the tradition of sociological thinking and its major theorists will provide students with a robust foundation to thoroughly understand contemporary sociological theory which is the subject of SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY 2.

Students should expect to spend about 3 hours for preparing the weekly readings and to study for the midterm and the final exam.
