概要
From books and newspapers to YouTube and Tiktok, mass media and its industry has had a profound impact on our society. Its rapid development has continuously changed the way we communicate and understand the world around us. In this course, students will study the historical development of mass media and its business, which is essential to understanding the modern media landscape. Students will use this knowledge to critically analyze current media-related trends in terms of historical contexts, business strategies, and social/cultural/political/economic impacts. Students will be expected to read materials before class and bring recent, relevant cases from around the world for class discussions.
目標
Students will be able to describe the historical development of mass media and its industry and be able to critically analyze current mass media-related trends in terms of historical contexts, business strategies, and social/cultural/political/economic impacts by applying the knowledge on historical development.
授業外の学習
Students will be expected to read materials before class for preparation. Also, preparation for class presentations and discussions will be necessary.
