概要

(Intermediate ENGLISH is used in the class) Each class will focus on a different theme, reading the news in English/Japanese and analyzing the historical, political, and social background of the news. Students will also compare and contrast the contents of the news with other media. This class will emphasize not only reading the news in English, but also students' own analysis of international affairs and topics of global concern using news from international media outlets. *Each week in class, students will engage in group work, including reporting and group discussion. (中級英語のクラス) 英文のメディアが発信する記事を用い,海外のニュースを英語・日本語で読む力を養う｡毎回,異なるテーマを設定し,英文でニュースを読むと同時に,ニュースの歴史的,政治的,社会的背景を分析する。さらに他のメディアがどのような論調でニュースを伝えているのかについての比較検討も行う。この授業では単に英語でニュースを読むだけではなく,受講者自身が海外メディアのニュースを用いて国際情勢やグローバルな規模で問題となっているトピックに関する分析を行うことを重視する。

目標

To understand current affairs using Japanese and English articles, news and programs. 日本語・英語記事・ニュース・番組を用いて時事問題を理解すること。
