歴史学特講(西洋中世史)

概要

This class is designed for students who will write a graduation thesis on the History of Europe in the Middle Ages or in another era. Students receive training to read academic papers on these topics accurately and translating them into appropriate Japanese. (So, this class DOES NOT make much of oral communication in English) The texts for reading will be chosen based on the interests of students, especially those in my seminar (European/American Middle Ages).

目標

Students are expected to develop their knowledge of medieval Europe and to have good English language skills.

授業外の学習

In advance of every class, students are required to read the texts and to translate them into Japanese with proper notes. Breakdown of learning time per class session: - Preparation (80 minutes or more): Research the theme and related topics for the session using high school world history textbooks, designated reference books, web sources, etc., and compile notes. - Review (110 minutes or more): Organize the content of the class in notes. Additionally, consider any questions or further learning points independently, search for and comprehend reference materials, and add any new insights to the aforementioned notes. * The breakdown of time and the content of preparation and review are subject to change based on the progress of each session and the instructions of the instructor.
